My Ride On Won't Turn On or is having issues?
Check 1 — Battery Connection The most common reason a ride on won't start is the battery connection. All Little Tacker Toys ride ons are shipped with the positive [+] battery terminal disconnected for safety during transit. You'll find a small plastic cap covering the positive [+] terminal — remove this cap first, then connect the red wire to the positive [+] terminal before charging or use.
Check 2 — Charging Time First time charging? Your ride on needs to be charged for 8–12 hours on its first charge, and at least 8 hours for every charge after that. This is really important — 80% of the battery's charge actually happens in the last 20% of charging time, so a short 2 hour charge won't give your little one enough power to drive.
We also recommend always fully charging the battery before storing the ride on for extended periods — this keeps the battery healthy and extends its life.
Check 3 — Charger Still Connected? All our ride ons have a built-in safety feature that prevents them from starting while the charger is still plugged in. Make sure the charging cable is completely disconnected before attempting to start.
Other Things to Check
Push Button Start Some models have a push-button start that needs to be held down for up to 5 seconds before the ride on will start up. Some models also have a separate power on/off switch that needs to be in the 'on' position first — check your instruction manual for your specific model.
Safety Mode If your ride on comes with a remote controller, there is a safety/stop button on the remote. If this has been pressed, the ride on will stop completely and won't respond to any controls until it's been reset. Follow the safety mode reset procedure in your instruction manual to get things going again.
Charging Your Ride On
All our ride ons come with an Australian AC adaptor charger. When charging correctly, the indicator light on the charger will show red. Once fully charged it will switch to green. We recommend timing your charges rather than relying solely on the green light — especially for new batteries which need several full charge and discharge cycles to reach their full capacity.
Before charging, make sure all battery wires are connected correctly and the plastic cap has been removed from the positive [+] terminal.
Pairing Your Remote Controller
If your ride on includes a remote controller, it will need to be paired before use — similar to connecting a Bluetooth speaker to your phone. The pairing process varies by model so check your instruction manual for the specific steps. We've also included a video link below for our most popular remote controller models.
We recommend using Alkaline batteries in your remote controller and removing them if storing for a long period.
Missing Parts
Our suppliers pack ride ons carefully but on rare occasions a part may be missing. Before contacting us please check:
- Underneath the body of the ride on and under the seat
- Inside the bonnet and/or boot
- Thoroughly through all packaging and cardboard inside the box — parts are often tucked inside for safe transit
